Requirements of Orthopedic Hospital Speising
The Orthopedic Hospital Speising aimed to improve orientation and information for its patients. The goal was to install an interactive information system that would provide patients with a quick overview of the different buildings and departments. Additionally, it was essential to provide current information and the departure times of nearby public transportation. Easy access to contacts and efficient wayfinding were also important requirements.
Implementation
To meet these requirements, an interactive patient information system with touch functionality was installed. This system allows patients to better navigate the hospital and quickly find the right contacts. Content is manually uploaded or updated through interfaces, which also include displaying websites. A news ticker continuously informs about current events, and the departure times of nearby public transportation are displayed as well. The implementation was carried out by the Austrian easescreen partner BIG SCREEN.

About Orthopedic Hospital Speising
Originally established as the “Orthopedic Hospital” in 1915 in Vienna’s fifth district, the hospital served as a clinic for war casualties. The hospital building was heavily bombed during World War II, necessitating a relocation of the hospital operations to the Hofburg, in the spaces of what is now the National Library. In 1956, the hospital moved to its current location in Vienna-Speising.
