A Landmark Goes Digital

We all know them and have looked for them more than once in foreign cities: the more or less visible signs that mark a subway station from the outside. Whether it’s a sign, a pillar, or a cube: they are points of reference in unfamiliar areas and promise progress on one’s way to the destination.

The Viennese subway cubes are widely known in Austria: Designed 50 years ago by the Architektengruppe U-Bahn (AGU), they have become an unmistakable part of the cityscape. Our partner CANCOM Austria AG has therefore come up with something very special for the Tyrolean ski resort of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis: the subway stops, which connects the Serfaus parking lot with the lifts, are marked with LED cubes. The distinct advantage: in addition to the typical “U” symbol, the departure time, as well as the direction, are also displayed. A data integration is used here, thanks to which visitors automatically see the latest times.

Thanks to easescreen’s hardware and media format flexibility, there are no limits for the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski resort when it comes to displaying content on various displays. Stretched monitors in every metro station and a big LED screen in the main station are used for holidays and events, and can also be used to communicate essential emergency information, if necessary. In addition, the visitor information at the ski lifts and the infotainment in the subway are also operated with easescreen.
